I was amazing to putting one more step to share the words, wisdom, excellency & faith to Sri Ganganagar. This city was situated the top of the Rajasthan also named as “Crown of Rajasthan”.The workshop was organized to a school & audience of this workshop was 12th Class students. The Speakers was:

  • Dron Rathore
  • Lavish Aggarwal
  • Osho Parth
  • Adit Bharadwaj
  • J. Raj Rohit
  • Ashish Seervi (Asharam)

Workshop inaugurated sharply at 10:00AM, and was inaugurate by School Director Mrs Rachna Ma’am introducing all speakers and telling student about agenda and main purpose of this workshop.

Introducing about all speakers

As introducing “What Mozilla is..?” & “Difference between Company & Community”…First session of the workshop is delivered by Mr. “Dron Rathore” is event organizer and Mozilla Representative, informing student about what are the benefits of this workshop and how they can be a part of this community by doing awesome work and contribution. He also introduced them about Mozilla credits page and how their contribution may be recognized by their name in credit page of Mozilla. He also elaborated them about Mozilla, its mission and products of Mozilla.

Dron Rathore

Next session was delivered by Mr. “Osho Parth” introducing students about Open Source, realizing them to feel true freedom than their actual freedom in this tech world. He also told them about Linux OS and its power rather than other OS. He also told them about FOSS and Mozilla as a part of it.

Next session was delivered by Mr. “Raj Rohit”, telling students about BugZilla and how to make products better through simple steps of bugzilla. He also tell them about Data Science and other Open Source project in which interested students can contribute.

Next session of Webmaker was taken by Mr. “Lavish Aggarwal” and Mr. “Adit Bhardwaj”  who is Webmaker Mentor, they taught students how easy it is to edit any website or create new website through live rendering of the code and video mixing by the awesome tools of mozilla i.e. X-Ray Googles, Thimble, Popcorn. Students were amazed by live editing of website through these tools.

13507109275_0551bd172f_zFinally, Mic turns up to me… It was unforgettable moment and happiness by sharing the knowledge “How to get involved in Mozilla” & “How to support the various tools as like Firefox, Firefox OS, Localization, open-badges” and asked to students that “HOW MANY OF YOU ARE 18 or ABOVE” to recruitment for “Firefox Student Ambassador Program”  but,, As 12th std students hopefully answered that none of us is not still 18+. So, I briefly explained them about FSA program so they start contributions by recognizing as a Mozillian.

Later on, Chairman of “Nosegay Public School” inspired us with his letter of appreciation..!! & later on we moved on for refreshment. We discussed much more about the contributions of Dron Rathore and also discussed future events for Mozilla Community Rajasthan. Too much inspiring tour for me. Why “Free Software” is better than “Open Source”.

Standard

While free software by any other name would give you the same freedom, it makes a big difference which name we use: different words convey different ideas.

In 1998, some of the people in the free software community began using the term “open source software” instead of “free software” to describe what they do. The term “open source” quickly became associated with a different approach, a different philosophy, different values, and even a different criterion for which licenses are acceptable. The Free Software movement and the Open Source movement are today separate movements with different views and goals, although we can and do work together on some practical projects.

The fundamental difference between the two movements is in their values, their ways of looking at the world. For the Open Source movement, the issue of whether software should be open source is a practical question, not an ethical one.

As one person put it,

“Open source is a development methodology; free software is a social movement.”

For the Open Source movement, non-free software is a sub optimal solution. For the Free Software movement, non-free software is a social problem and free software is the solution.

FREE OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE

Relationship between the Free Software movement and Open Source movement :

The Free Software movement and the Open Source movement are like two political camps within the free software community.

Radical groups in the 1960s developed a reputation for factionalism: organizations split because of disagreements on details of strategy, and then treated each other as enemies. Or at least, such is the image people have of them, whether or not it was true.

The relationship between the Free Software movement and the Open Source movement is just the opposite of that picture. We disagree on the basic principles, but agree more or less on the practical recommendations. So we can and do work together on many specific projects. We don’t think of the Open Source movement as an enemy. The enemy is proprietary software.

We are not against the Open Source movement, but we don’t want to be lumped in with them. We acknowledge that they have contributed to our community, but we created this community, and we want people to know this. We want people to associate our achievements with our values and our philosophy, not with theirs. We want to be heard, not obscured behind a group with different views. To prevent people from thinking we are part of them, we take pains to avoid using the word “open” to describe free software, or its contrary, “closed”, in talking about non-free software.

So please mention the Free Software movement when you talk about the work we have done, and the software we have developed—such as the GNU/Linux operating system.

Practical Differences between Free Software and Open Source:

In practice, open source stands for criteria a little weaker than those of free software. As far as we know, all existing free software would qualify as open source. Nearly all open source software is free software, but there are exceptions. First, some open source licenses are too restrictive, so they do not qualify as free licenses. Fortunately, few programs use those licenses.

Second, and more important, many products containing computers (including many Android devices) come with executable programs that correspond to free software source code, but the devices do not allow the user to install modified versions of those executable; only one special company has the power to modify them. We call these devices “tyrants”, and the practice is called “ Tivoization ” after the product where we first saw it. These executable are not free software even though their source code is free software. The criteria for open source do not recognize this issue; they are concerned solely with the licensing of the source code.

This rest of this article compare the two terms “free software” and “open source”. It shows why the term “open source” does not solve any problems, and in fact creates some. Continue reading

Time-based One-time Password Algorithm

Standard

TOTP – Time-based One-time Password Algorithm is an extension of the HMAC-based One Time Password algorithm HOTP to support a time based moving factor. A moving factor is a value that must be changed each time a new password is generated in order to ensure that a different password is always generated. So a password generated at 12:00:01 will be different than one generated at 12:00:31 even if other items used to generate it are the same. Note: the time difference only cares about intervals in 30 second amounts. So a password generated 12:00:01 will be the same as one generated at 12:00:15 and 12:00:29. TOTP is an Internet Engineering Task Force standard and a cornerstone of Initiative For Open Authentication (OATH).

Applications :

TOTP can be used to authenticate a user in a system via an authentication server. If some more steps are carried out, the user can also authenticate the validation server.

Two-step verification is an optional but highly recommended security feature that adds an extra layer of protection to your Google/Wordpress/Dropbox etc. accounts. Once enabled, it will require a six-digit security code in addition to your password whenever you sign in to your account or link a new computer, phone, or tablet.

It complements the event-based one-time standard HOTP and offers end user organizations and enterprises more choice in selecting technologies that best fit their application requirements and security guidelines.

Another layer of security for your account :

There is a number of steps we’re taking to add an extra layer of security for account users. Today i’d like to announce the two-step verification technology, a feature that will enhance the security of your account by requiring two levels of authentication: your password, and a security code that will either be texted to your mobile phone or generated by a mobile authenticator app (available for iOS, Android, Blackberry and Windows Phone 7).
